About the Tour and Archaeological Site
Embark on an exciting excursion to explore the ruins of Ichkabal (whose Mayan name translates to “among lowlands”), one of the oldest, most monumental, and largest cities of the Mayan civilization. From Chetumal, the journey takes about 1 hour and a half, while from Bacalar it is only 55 minutes.
This site housed colossal structures and towering pyramids exceeding 40 meters in height. It was strongly linked to the power of the historic Kaan’ul Dynasty (Snake Dynasty) and was connected via ancient white roads (sacbeob) to the neighboring zone of Dzibanché.
The tour starts with hotel pick-up at 9:30 AM, so we recommend arriving having had breakfast and prepared with comfortable clothing to step into the jungle.
