🐬 Private Bay & Tamalcab Island Expedition
Explore turquoise waters, hidden channels, and marine wildlife in the Chetumal Bay on a fully private tour.
🌴 The Fascinating Tamalcab Island & Calderitas
Right in front of the fishing and tourist village of Calderitas lies the fascinating Tamalcab Island, 14 km long with a width ranging from a few meters to about 300 meters. Along its southern side, you can explore a small body of water (stream) inhabited by various aquatic birds — such as frigatebirds, cormorants, and gulls — as well as some land mammal species. This ride is conducted along the sheltered inner side of the island, making it a very comfortable trip even for older adults.
The Neck of the Island and the Bay: In the middle lies what locals call “the neck of the island,” a 20-meter passage connecting both sides that at certain times of the year rivals the beauty of the Caribbean Sea. This is where we swim and enjoy the turquoise blue of the Chetumal Bay for approximately 1 hour.
Possible Sightings: Along the way, our captains have a keen eye for detecting dolphins or manatees (with an approximate sighting probability of 75%), so make sure to have your camera ready!
