We depart at 9:30 a.m., picking you up directly from your hotel or indicated lodging in Chetumal or Bacalar in a comfortable vehicle. We tour the three most historically significant archaeological sites in the region, with an optional final stop for lunch at a restaurant on the shores of the beautiful Huay Pix Lagoon (meals not included).
Renowned for its unique architectural style, iconography, and ceramics. Dating back to 200 B.C. with early masonry platforms in Ya’axná, it rose to major city status in 1200 A.D. thanks to the impressive Temple of the Masks.
The largest (40 km²) and most important archaeological settlement in southern Quintana Roo. It features complex political monuments and Temple VI, famous for its wooden lintels with calendric inscriptions that gave the site its name (“Writing on Wood”), peaking during the Classic Period.
Located 2 km north of the main complex. Its name comes from a stucco element featuring the kin glyph (Sun or day) at the top of the Acropolis, sharing architectural similarities with special ruling family burial complexes from the Early Classic.
